Tissa Wijeratne, Chair of the IHS Asian Regional Consortium for Headache (ARCH), has been awarded a prestigious medal of the Order of Australia for service to medicine as a neurologist.

Tissa moved to Australia in 2005 from Sri Lanka, via New Zealand, but still maintains contracts in Sri Lanka and the wider region and has managed three IHS Visiting Professor meetings in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Tissa was elected Chair of ARCH in 2022 and, in collaboration with former Chair K Ravishankar (India), organised a very successful virtual 9th ARCH conference in July 2022, ‘Bringing Asia closer to the rest of the world’ which was reported in the last issue of the IHS newsletter.
