Biography
Dr. Thomas Ward graduated from Dartmouth College cum laude in 1975. He then attended the Universidad del Noreste in Tampico, Mexico from 1976-1978, then transferred to Dartmouth Medical School, graduating with honors in 1980. He was elected to AOA as a medical student. He subsequently was an Internal Medicine resident at Albany Medical Center from 1980-1982. He returned to Dartmouth to do a Neurology residency 1982-1985.
Clinically, from 1985-1989, Dr. Ward was at Laconia Clinic in Laconia, New, Hampshire, then returned to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center as a staff neurologist. He served on the Dartmouth College Conflict of Interest Committee and also for a number of years on the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects (their IRB). He chaired two of the four panels while he was on that committee. He currently is Emeritus Professor of Neurology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Dr. Ward is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society and the American Neurological Association. He is President of the Headache Cooperative of the Northeast, a former editor-in-chief of the journal Headache, Chair of the Ethics Committee of the IHS, a member of the Southern Headache Society and a longstanding member of the Northern New England Neurologic Society.
Dr. Ward’s goal as Chair of the Ethics Committee is to continue to keep the committee efficient and effective.
