Biography

Hsiangkuo Yuan is Associate Professor of Neurology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, and Director of Clinical Research at the Jefferson Headache Center in Philadelphia, USA, where he also runs the CSF high-/low-pressure headache clinic. He earned his MD from National Yang-Ming University in Taiwan and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, USA. Dr. Yuan completed two neurology residencies, one at Taipei Veterans General Hospital and another at Thomas Jefferson University, followed by a headache fellowship at Jefferson.

His research focuses on real-world outcome research on novel migraine therapeutics, neuromodulation, and advanced neuroimaging in CSF dynamics. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including recent IHS evidence-based guidelines on neuromodulation devices for migraine. Dr. Yuan is actively involved in clinical trials of emerging headache therapies.

He serves as Associate Editor for MedLink Neurology, and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and Section Editor for Current Pain and Headache Reports. Dr. Yuan has received the AHS Early-Stage Investigator Career Award (2024) and the ASRA President’s Choice Award (2021), and is committed to advancing headache research and education.
