Biography

Dr Levin is a Professor in the University of California San Francisco Department of Neurology, and is the Director of the UCSF Headache Center.  He is board certified in Neurology (ABPN), Pain Medicine (ABPN), and Headache Medicine (UCNS).

He has authored medical journal articles and textbook chapters, as well as texts, most recently including Comprehensive Review of Headache Medicine 2^nd Ed. (Oxford University Press 2025), Headache and Facial Pain (Oxford University Press 2022), Emergency Neurology (Oxford University Press 2022), and “Understanding Your Migraines”, a guide for patients and families (Oxford University Press 2017). He also co-authored the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD) 3^rd edition.

Dr Levin currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the International Headache Society (IHS), and the Board of Directors of the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific.  Dr Levin is the director of the UCSF Headache Medicine Fellowship training program.
