Membership benefits
Access the Cephalalgia backfile and reduced APC
Cephalalgia, the official journal of IHS, contains original papers on all aspects of headache. The journal provides an international forum for original research papers, review articles and short communications.
From January 2023 Cephalalgia will be an open-access journal.
IHS members receive discounted APC charges for manuscript publication when both the first and last authors are IHS members.
IHS members enjoy access to the deep backfile of Cephalalgia (from 1981 to 1998).
IHS members can also access the online version of The Neuroscientist.
Access to the IHS Learning Centre
The Learning Centre is created by the Education committee for IHS members only.
The Learning Centre provides content in different electronic formats: videos, podcasts and webinars. Feedback and suggestions for the Learning Centre are most welcomed – please email the Learning Centre director.
Reduced registration to IHS congresses
The IHS International Headache Congress (IHC) is held every second year and provides participants with the latest therapies, developments and research in the headache and migraine field.
The congress strives to enhance education, increase awareness, and improve the lives of those afflicted by headache disorders worldwide through a mix of introductory teaching courses, plenary sessions with invited speakers, parallel advanced clinical and scientific courses, as well as platform and poster scientific sessions.
Smaller IHS congresses are held in non-IHC years, the next one being in Berlin in May 2024. See the IHS 2024 | Science page for more information.
Juniors – opportunities to attend educational programmes and grant application
As a Junior IHS member you will be eligible to attend IHS educational events, such as the International Headache Academy (iHEAD) which is held annually.
There is also the opportunity to apply for grants – we offer travel grants for our bi-ennial International Headache Congress (IHC).
Several grants are also offered for juniors from lower income countries for short visits to a major headache centre and for research grants.
