Associate membership information
IHS offers Associate Membership free of charge to assist those professionally interested in headache disorders who are residents of Low- and Lower-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) to participate in the global discourse on headache via free online access to Cephalalgia.
Associate members pay no fee and enjoy the same benefits as Online-only Adjunct members, but are not eligible for reduced registration fee to IHS bi-ennial congresses. Associate members may apply for Standard membership at any time.
Junior in countries listed as Upper-middle may also join as Associate Members (see below).
As part of the application process, you will be asked to submit your CV to the IHS administrative office.
IMPORTANT: Junior Associate membership is available if you are a junior physician or researcher, still in training or recently completed. This is extended to all countries in World Bank listing low, lower-middle and upper-middle income countries (see lists HERE). If you register as a Junior Associate we can indicate this on our member listing and make sure you receive notice of junior activities and grants.
Junior eligibility is: currently an under- or post-graduate student (including but not limited to medical students and PhD students) or a medical doctor training to become a specialist. For medical doctors alternatively within 3 years of obtaining medical doctorate or academic post graduate degree or specialist certification, whichever was obtained latest. For other academic groups alternatively within 6 years of obtaining latest academic degree.
If you think you qualify for Junior Associate Membership please complete and return the Junior verification form to Carol Taylor after completing your application. If you have qualified in the last 3 or 6 years as above, please also include a copy of your latest qualification certificate.

Standard membership
Available to those who are medical and healthcare practitioners (including such practitioners actively involved in scientific research) who are professionally engaged or involved in the study of headache disorders and have university or equivalent qualifications in any relevant field including medicine, surgery, psychiatry, medical or biomedical science, psychology, nursing, physical therapy, or pharmacy.
Adjunct and Corporate membership
Available to those who are not eligible to become a Standard member, but who are otherwise professionally engaged or interested in headache, including professional lay people working in headache, e.g. patient organisation representatives, headache writers, headache advocacy people, etc., and to people working for pharmaceutical companies in the neurology field.
