Biography

David García-Azorín obtained his medical degree at the University Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He completed the residency of neurology at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Madrid, Spain. He completed his specialisation in headache during a clinical fellowship at the Hospital Clínico Universitario in Valladolid, Spain, and the Master of Headache Disorders, at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He completed his training in clinical research by the programme Principles and Practice of Clinical Research, by Harvard Medical School, and a Master Program of Clinical Research, from Dresden International University, Germany. He also completed a master of infectious diseases and tropical neurology by University Oberta of Catalunya, Spain. He completed his PhD regarding the detection of secondary headache in the emergency department at the University of Valladolid, Spain.

He is currently member of the Spanish Society of Neurology executive board, as chair of the International Area and the secretary of the UEMS - European Board of Neurology. He is involved in the European Academy of Neurology in the headache panel and neuroinfectious diseases panel. He recently participated in the elaboration of the WHO guidelines for the management of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome.

He has done international stays in Calcutta, India (2008); Tegucigalpa, Honduras (2009); Yaounde, Cameroon (2010, 2011, 2015, 2016), New York, the United States of America (2015) and Bouaké, Ivory Coast (2018). He has participated in >95 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals. His main areas of interest are secondary headache detection and characterisation, phenotypic characterisation of other primary headache disorders and currently headache attributed to COVID-19.
