Biography
Kerstin Luedtke qualified as a physiotherapist in Germany in 1993. She continued her professional development with a Master’s degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University (UK) in 2002 and a PhD from the University of Birmingham in 2014. During the PhD and for her postdoctoral studies (2009-2016) she was a researcher at the Department of Systems Neuroscience (Head of department Prof. Dr. Christian Buechel) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in the work group led by Prof. Dr. Arne May.
Investigating the musculoskeletal system in patients with migraine for the postdoctoral period was the logical consequence of numerous lunchtime discussions within the work group about whether or not peripheral structures can influence the central nervous system processes known to occur during migraine attacks. The topic is still a main area of interest, complimented by recent projects on endogenous pain modulation.
In October 2017, Kerstin Luedtke was appointed as a professor of physiotherapy at the University of Luebeck, where she heads the Bachelor program in physiotherapy.
