Biography

Dr Laszlo Mechtler is Professor of Neurology and Oncology at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Chief Medical Officer of the Dent Neurologic Institute, the largest out-patient neuroscience center in the United States. He is the Director of the DENT Headache Center where he currently serves as the Principal Investigator for over 25 clinical research trials with the majority focused on headache. He serves as an active member of the AHS and IHS. An accomplished author Dr Mechtler has published many abstracts, book chapters, as well as manuscripts and is currently publishing in Wolff’s Headache for the upcoming edition. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the MIND Clinic in Budapest, HUNGARY where he is currently developing A Headache Center of Excellence. His training includes institutions such as MD Anderson, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and Semmelweis University. Dr Mechtler holds UCNS certifications in Neuroimaging, Neuro-Oncology and Headache Medicine.

He is a past president of both the Hungarian Medical Association of America (HMAA) and American Society of Neuroimaging (ASN). He has also served as guest editor of the 2009, 2014, 2020 editions of Neurology Clinics on ‘Neuroimaging’. He has sat on the Executive Committee for BrainPAC through the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), serves on multiple advisory boards for industry as well as the New York State Athletic Commission. Dr Mechtler lectures internationally, as a thought leader and accomplished researcher in Headache Medicine, Neuro- Imaging, Neuro-Oncology, and Medical Marijuana. He has also published some of the world’s first large scale retrospective research in the medical use of marijuana.

Dr Mechtler has received honors and recognition including “The 2021 250 Most Influential People in Western New York” (77/250), voted as “TOP DOC” every year since 2005 and most prestigiously recognized as the 2016 Recipient of the Award of Achievement from the Hungarian Government.
