Biography

Marcio Nattan Souza is a consultant neurologist at Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo, where he works at the Headache Clinic. He is also a consultant neurologist at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, Brazil.

In 2020, Marcio joined the International Headache Society (IHS) as a member of the Junior Group Committee and the Communication Committee. In 2021, he became a member of the Education Committee.

In 2021, he co-founded the Headache Fellowship Program at the University of São Paulo alongside Dr. Ida Fortini. The program has been highly successful in training neurologists, some of whom have established advanced headache practices in different regions across Brazil, expanding access to specialized care.

Marcio is actively engaged in headache research, clinical practice, and medical education, and has authored several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

His main areas of interest within headache medicine include migraine, spontaneous intracranial hypotension, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, medical education, and medical communication.
