Bolivian Headache Society

The Bolivian Headache Society (Sociedad de Cefaleas Bolivia – SOCEBO) is an official chapter of the Bolivian Society of Neurology. It was established in 2022 with the aim of promoting education, research, and scientific collaboration in the field of headache and cranial neuralgia in Bolivia.

SOCEBO is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political scientific organization. Its headquarters are based at the Neurology Service of the Hospital de Clínicas Universitario, La Paz, Bolivia.

The Society currently includes approximately twenty members, composed of neurologists and medical professionals with a special interest in headache medicine.

Activities

The main objectives and ongoing activities of SOCEBO include:

  • Promoting medical education and public awareness regarding headache disorders and cranial neuralgia.
  • Supporting and encouraging scientific research in headache medicine.
  • Organizing scientific meetings, seminars, academic conferences, and educational activities in Bolivia.
  • Collaborating with national and international scientific organizations dedicated to neurology and headache medicine.
  • The Society is committed to strengthening headache education and improving patient care standards throughout the country.

Society membership

Membership is open to neurologists and medical professionals with a special interest in headache and craniofacial neuralgia who support the objectives of the Society.

Applications must be submitted in writing to the Executive Committee and are approved by a two-thirds majority vote. Membership becomes effective upon payment of the annual membership fee established by the General Assembly.

IHS membership

Bolivia is listed by World Bank as a Lower-middle income country. Members can join IHS as Associate Members which is free of charge.
