Dominican Republic Headache Society
The Dominican Republic Society of Neurology Headache Group (Sociedad Dominica de Cefaleas – SODOC) was established in 1999 by a group of professionals and patients who suffer from headaches. The aim is to work together to improve the care of headache patients, enhance the quality of available information, and make it accessible to people who suffer from chronic and severe headaches.
The primary mission of the Society is education; we offer patients options for self-treatment and are available to listen to them.
The Society currently includes approximately 160 members, composed of neurologists and medical professionals with a special interest in headache medicine, and a national and international Board representing the society.
Activities
The main objectives and ongoing activities of SODOC include:
- Exploring non-drug treatments
- Understanding medications: benefits and risks
- Understanding what to expect from medical treatment
- Updating on new studies and new drugs
- Understanding the impact of headaches on family and work
Society membership
Dominican Headache Society welcomes neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatric neurologists, neuroradiologists, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in headache medicine who wish to become part of the Society.

IHS membership
The Dominican Republic is listed by World Bank as an Upper-middle income country. Members can join IHS at the discounted UMI rate; junior members can join as Associate Members which is free of charge.
